Growing up in eastern North Carolina, we referred to the trunk of a car as a boot. I have long since moved away, so it's nice to hear that word again.

Aww, that ending made me look forward to a day when hopefully our 3-month-old baby will say thank you. Also, as an American reader I wanted to say I don’t have any trouble with your British-isms! Although I read a lot of books by British authors as a child so I think I’m more steeped in the vocabulary than perhaps the average American.

One of the best things about the toddler/pre-school age is having those first little conversations! Nothing will prepare you emotionally for the first “thank you” or “I love you” though, so be warned!

Lol I also wrote about puddles in July this week... Only difference is that I'm in Australia so puddles are to be expected at this time of year
